We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase, and strive to provide expert guidance to help you choose the best possible products for your needs. We also understand that sometimes a product just doesn’t quite fit. So we try to make product returns as painless as possible.


Return Policy

Most items may be returned within 30 days from the date of receipt. Some products are eligible for a full refund. Other products are subject to restocking fees. Please see the product description for specifics.

  • Returned items must be unused, in resalable condition and in their original, pristine, unopened packaging.
  • A Return Material Authorization (RMA) number is required. Please Contact Us to request your RMA#.
  • Some items are returned to our warehouse and some are returned directly to the manufacturer. Shipping instructions will be included with your RMA#.
  • In order to waive restocking fees, defective products must be exchanged for the exact same product. Restocking fees apply if the defective item is exchanged for something different.
  • Shipping charges are not refundable. Customers are responsible for round-trip shipping on returned products. If you received free shipping upon purchase, we will subtract the actual cost of outbound shipping from your refund.

Important exceptions:

We cannot accept returns of certain items, including:

  • Items returned more than 30 days after the delivery date.
  • Items that are damaged or missing parts.
  • Items that have been used. NOTE: Some used items are returnable subject to a restocking fee. Please check the product description for details.
  • Items that are dirty or soiled.
  • Items with missing or damaged instructions or packaging.
  • Items noted on our website and/or labeled on the package as non-returnable due to health and sanitary reasons, for example, mouth-inflatable products or bedding.
  • Books: No returns.
  • Special order and custom order items: No returns.
  • Chairs: Chairs that have been configured and built to your specifications are considered custom orders, but in some cases are returnable. Please check the product description for details. Chairs upholstered COM (Customer's Own Material) are not returnable.
  • Desks: Desks usually ship via freight delivery. Desks with standard specifications are returnable under standard terms, however freight can be very expensive and original packaging may not be in reusable condition. In addition, most desk manufacturers impose restocking fees for returns. Therefore, for practical purposes most buyers consider desks to be non-returnable.
  • Anti-fatigue and carpet mats: Custom cut mats are not returnable.
  • International orders: Returnable under standard terms, but you are responsible for round trip shipping including import taxes, brokerage and all other import fees.
  • Open box, demo, sale, clearance, and scratch-and-dent products: No returns.

Some products once assembled, cannot be easily disassembled and packaged for return. The customer is liable for any damage that occurs during assembly or disassembly. We may or may not accept these items for return and may charge a restocking fee of 25% or more. Please Contact Us for further information.

Final determination of whether a product is in unused, resalable condition is at the sole discretion of Back Designs Inc. Items deemed non-returnable shall be charged a restocking fee or returned to the customer at their expense, at our discretion.

Manufacturer return specifics:

WorkRite: A Return Authorization number must be issued by Back Designs prior to returning any products. A 20% restocking fee will be assessed on all returns. Products must be in brand new, saleable condition, and never installed. All returns must be made within 30 days of receipt.

Damaged merchandise

Please Notify Us about damaged merchandise within 24 hours of receipt. Keep all boxes and packing material. You may be required to contact the shipping/delivery company.

Refunds and credits

Refunds or credits are issued within 5 business days of product receipt.

  • We do not refund shipping costs except in the case of our error.
  • We ship some products with "free shipping' or "shipping included". Please understand that this is for purchases that are not returned. The original shipping charges plus applicable restocking fees are deducted from all returns.
  • Refunds are issued in the same manner order was paid.
